Phproxy, should we bring it back into development?

I was thinking on taking Phproxy and bringing it back alive, making it an official and active proxy script since it has been without any further development since it's creator abandoned it.

My plan is to build a better script with it's platform. Make it better than the rest of the scripts with an admin (back-end) page with lots of options. Also add lots of useful and helpful features to the proxy script. Well you get my point!

    • Back-end (admin) page
    • SEO optimized
    • Lots of more options & features
    • Offer script updates
    • Build a community for support once the script is ready
    • and many more stuff to make sure this is the best proxy

So what do you think, should we go for it?

i dunno more about this script but this was the one of king of proxy field, but now its going down becaz not have any support site.

if you are ready to live it again then this is the best idea.
i am also with phproxy, one of my friend run it and getting around 50k user each month and there are no problm. but when i upload glype there that is start giving me internal server 500 error becaz server unable to handle too many process a time.

so think phproxy is the best in this condition, and want to taste this one time.

Yes, go for it. Since Glype is now dead you will have the only proxy script which is being updated.

I've been thinking of doing something like this myself. More on a personal level though. I was just going to modify PHProxy so it would be easy to deploy on new sites and manage in a central location.

PHProxy is a solid script that has been forgotten about now.

That is one of the reasons I though about it, glype's owner doesn't really care very much about the script or it's community. I'm not a person who likes talking cr@p about others, but I have been trying to talk to him and he just ignores every single message.

Although this project would take a couple months, probably 3 to 6 months. I'm sure it will be totally worth because Im not thinking about making minor changes, I'm thinking BIG just like all of my projects. The best ideas, the best features and best of all a great support and community so we can all solve problems together. Also I believe the new Glype version will be released soon and way before my project so we'll have to see how it turns out.

I don't think that the new Glype owner will ever release v2.0 which he said would take 2 weeks a couple months ago.

But yea, it would be worth it.

I'll be opening a new post at proxieslounge so all of you can submit new ideas, suggestions and features for this project. Then I can start planning the whole project and start working on it in after we all get some ideas, features that will be available with the script.

The reason this project will take some time to develop is because I have to design the default theme, create admin page (very sophisticated admin page, nothing like glype), all the new features + save some cash for the script domain, hosting and other branding issues so all I ask is patience

Absolutely go for it! This can be very profitable for you if you do it right.

Not really, proxy scripts are not very profitable since the market is not too big, it doesn't have top paying advertisers and with the crisis people don't even donate. The small amount it COULD bring would not be completely worth when compared to the amount of hours and time spent into it.

Just think why the original owner of phproxy abandoned it, and why the previous glype owner sold the whole site to someone who actually is not even interested in such script because I'm completely sure he knew the script would not be profitable at all, bought it for other reasons I'm very I would prefer not to say in public.

Anyways I don't really care that much about the profits as long as it makes enough to pay for it's own hosting and domain. Thanks for your support and I hope it does really work out.
