Proxy List Creation?
I'm thinking of making a proxy list. Why? Well, it's useful to end-users, proxy owners, and should pull in some income. And to me, those are good reasons! I understand that there are many lists out there, but I'm confident that I can invest the time and effort to make it into something worthwhile. However, I have a question or two.
Should I go ahead and buy a whole new .com domain name for the list? I initially thought of the idea as an expansion of runningonlinebusiness.com by making it a subdomain, but I wondered if that would turn people away simply due to the fact that it is a subdomain. It might come off as less professional or something. Now, if I use a new domain name - should it be something generic or something specific to the list?
What I mean is, do I want something with the word proxy in it, which tells people what the list is? Or do I go with a domain name that's just more general?
Your site is pagerank 0 so its not worth it. Buy a new .com
How is pagerank relevant?
I'd go with a brand new domain. Simply for users ease of use. If you were a proxy user looking for a proxy list, which would you rather visit?
proxylist.runningonlinebusiness.com or simply proxylist.com?
Keyword domains are always good for a little bump in initial rankings. But then you've got the chance of being blocked right off the bat via filters that look for those things. It doesn't really matter though, I mean look at juvos, #3 for the term proxy sites at google, so keyword domain is certainly not needed. If you can get a good brandable keyword domain, sure give it a go, but even if not, any easliy remembered brandable domain can work. Just don't go for something incredibly outta left field like gucciwatchesforsale.com or something, haha.
I have an old PR1 domain. I don't use it anymore and haven't updated the stuff there in a while:
hxxp://12stepguide.com/ --- would this be too random for a proxy list domain name?
Personally, I'd buy a domain for it.
I do have one proxy list running on an irrelevant domain, My Link Train. I bought it as a proxy toplist running Aardvark. I guess it had been a MySpace link train script in the past. It ranks #3 in Google for "link train". :D
I'd pick a proxy-related com/net/org domain, although they can be difficult to find.
Yeah, I have no problem at all with spending the money, that's not the issue. :)
I just wanted to see if the other ideas were at all feasible. And I see your point there, Freshide, about the domain name being too long and irrelevant. =]
Well then, I'll go ahead and register a new .com name ASAP! Just gotta think of one first. Thanks for the help, everyone.
Okay, everyone. I went ahead and made this:
ProxyRun.com | Fresh Proxies Daily! Fast, Anonymous and Secure!
I'll be adding more features/customization to it soon. :)
