    Proxy Monetization Thread

Let's discuss the core of proxy webmasters' dream, how to cash in the traffic.

At the moment the best for main page has been Google AdSense by far, but there's no clear winner for proxified ad space. At the moment I use AdBrite & Axill with 'mixed' success.

  2. Now this is a good meaty topic.

I'd divide proxy revenue into a two different types of categories:

    Revenue Model

    • CPM (Cost Per Mille)
    • CPC (Cost Per Click)
    • CPA (Cost Per Action)
    • Link Selling

    Ad Placement

    • Proxy pages
    • Proxified pages - additional ads
    • Proxified pages - replacement ads

AdSense is the current king of CPC revenue, but they don't allow their ads to be placed on proxified pages. Well , sort of. The word "proxy" does not appear anywhere in the AdSense Program Policies or Terms and Conditions. The problem is that AdSense doesn't allow their ads to be placed on all sorts of pages and you, as the proxy owner, can't control where the user browses.

But... I have two potential work-arounds in mind:

    1. Something like 50% of all proxy viewers go to MySpace.com. Could you not create a "whitelist" of safe sites like Myspace.com and only display AdSense on pages if the user is visiting one of those sites?
    2. Could you read the proxified page and only display AdSense if the page was already showing AdSense ads? I mean, if it's already showing AdSense ads, then it's probably OK. Right?

Of course, you could find yourself trying to explain all this to a Google AdSense representative who doesn't read or write English and makes $8/day to ban people from the AdSense program...

Other than AdSense, here's what I've seen recommended for profixied pages:
    • AdBrite
    • Adversal
    • AuctionAds
    • Axill
    • AZoogle
    • Bidvertiser
    • Canep Media
    • FOA
    • Global Interactive
    • Pay-Ads
    • PayPopup
    • ShoppingAds
    • TTZMedia
    • WidgetBucks

Are these listed in any specific order? What is the best solution for a proxy, after adsense?

Nathan runs a CPA Toolbar service, which I will be testing on a new proxy network over the next month or so (and, if successful, longer). He pays $0.80 per US lead, $0.40 per UK/CA/AU lead. A toolbar drops down on the proxified pages, blacking out the rest of the page, telling the user that they must completely an offer before they can use the proxy. Here's an example. PM him if you'd like to give it a try.

I completely forgot about that, but it looks like it should work really really well.

Has anyone had luck with Widgetbucks on proxified pages?

http://www.amitbhawani.com/blog/widg...e-and-adbrite/ <-- This page claims Widgetbucks is better than AdBrite.

Will I don't agree with this, never use your adsense publisher Id on web pages you don't own.

That's the way everyone is thinking right now.

I'm thinking "out of the box" again.

My AdSense ID is on a lot of pages I don't own. Why? Because quite a number of people who have stolen my content have also stolen my ads.

When I was running SST (Site Super Tracker), it would tell me where on the web my AdSense ID earned clicks. It was really fascinating to see my ads clicked from spammy sites and even from people's hard drives.

So, you've never participated in an ad revenue sharing forum?
