Smowtion - Official Discussion Thread (with Payment Proof)

My old review thread was removed for some reason, this is a revised review of Smowtion here - this should be the thread for all conversation.

Smowtion is an ad network company that focuses on CPC, CPM, AND CPA ads. While CPM ads appear most often, it's the CPA ads that get you the most money usually.

They offer all of the usual ad formats, and ads appear instantly and fill 100% of pageviewes. Ads on proxified pages ARE allowed.

The strange thing about Smowtion is it doesn't work well for everybody. I've been using it all summer, and have done great with it - other's report almost no earnings at all. But I can at least say I am making about 20x as much as I did with AdBrite.

The minimum payout is $100, and they ask that you fill out tax info by $20. The revenue share is 60% at default, but if you use a link below, you get 80%.

Regarding the earnings - my daily average for this month (September 1 - 11) was $1.14 + $5.47 from referrals. My best performing ad is 300x250. My average CPM is about .09.

I never needed support really, but I tried emailing them and I did not get a response (I didn't really need it). I have not tried phoning them, although they do offer multiple toll-free numbers to call for support.

They also offer a referral program, where you earn 5% of what your affiliates make for 6 months.

They do offer great reporting, allowing you to check earnings based on time, country, ad unit, and compare things like earnings, clicks, and impressions.

Well, I hate AdSense so I'm always open to alternatives and have been with a number of different advertising networks. Earlier today I found a Smowtion link in someone's signature and signed up there and submitted a handful of sites - currently awaiting approval. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it goes, but I expect it to go well.

20x more than AdBrite? That's awesome! Anyway, when you said you 'never received a response,' do you mean never or that it took a while? Because to simply not respond to a support request is very unprofessional in my eyes.

Anyway, I'm hoping my sites get approved soon and I can post a more detailed review later. :)

Edit: "The minimum payout is $100" That seems a bit high to me. Has anyone actually ever been paid by this company?

So they're legally incorporated in Florida, United States but all of the corporation's officers are in Buenos Aires. That means that if they decided to run with our money, even though they are incorporated here, they're out of the jurisdiction of the U.S. from what I'm aware of.

Interesting. I ran the address listed with the Domain Registrar:

Time of Flowers is another legally incorporated company in Florida, located at that address. However, their incorporation expired on: 12/31/2006. Since "Smowtion" is using that address as their contact's address, it leads me to become suspicious and suspect some foul play here. The data does not add up.

They were originally started as a Hispanic ad network, but now they support English as well.

I actually never got a response. My question was just general and I figured it out anyways, so I never pressed the issue. If somebody wants to call the support numbers and then confirm it.

I myself have not reached the threshold, but others have mentioned that they have been payed.

Maybe they registered a company in U.S. because the taxes are lower? don't know...

I got always a fast response when I sent an email to my account manager there (Magdalena). I asked a couple of questions in terms of mixing ads with other networks. Her answers were short but swift.

Ah I never talked to my account manager (Yes, we get our own account manager :D).

I will need to contact them.

I also have Magdalena as my account manager, and I asked her to verify some information on their payouts and legitimacy.

i was create there acc and getting only 60% commission. then i was contact with support center then he say that create new account as a referral. then i create new account under zash. and then they block my fires account. :)
now i am also getting 80% commission :)

I'm still learning Smowtion, but I don't really understand what is the reason behind that one site earns $0.01 clicks, and the other got $2 with 3 clicks today.

- Fire Proxy - Anonymous Web Proxy is doing the penny clicks
- RapidShare Search - RapidBull.com did the $2 today

Maybe I should change the keywords for Fire Proxy? Any solutions, or is it because I had 2 conversions with RapidBull?
