Tech-Faq Proxy Listing Hijacked !!

I just submitted 3 of my sites to:

New Proxies

And it appeared in the list but when you click on any of the proxies in the list it redirects Bebo Proxy site http://forums.digitalpoint.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Do you guys face the same problem ??

If so what can I do about it..

I have cleared cache and cookies...

No its fine this is security measure to prevent false inflating of stats. If you click a link normally it will open the correct location if you try to copy the link location and then paste it in the browser it will redirect to a different proxy.

Working normal for me, nothing wrong.

The redirect script checks for referrer. It will only redirect to the proxy if the link is clicked from Tech-FAQ website. Your browser probably has referrer set to none. I can understand the prevent hotlinking measure but I think is better for us proxy owners since we are paying now, if it redirects to a random proxy if referrer check failed rather than redirect to a proxy owned by Will everytime.

Mr. Bill and small are correct. The redirect only happens when someone either has referrers turned off in their browser or when they are trying to cheat the list to get onto the "Popular Proxies" page.

That's a very cool idea, but I can't figure out how to get Apache to do that.

Of course, that traffic is worthless -- because only people doing bad things normally get sent to redirected URL.

The referrer checking would have to be done by hits.php which then pulls a random link from the database if check fails.

I don't see why you don't just redirect back to the proxy list - that'd look slightly less biased. ;)

Like redirecting to one of my proxies. It's not mean to do such thing simply cos you own this entire set ;)

Anyways the referrer is off in browser cos of security measures I believe. And also I read that it's better to turn it off. Is it true ?? What are the advantages n disadvantages of it ??

Originally when I built the redirect, it was pointing at the site of a proxy owner who had DDOS'd the proxy lists -- forcing me to build the redirect.

I only recently changed it to point at A Bebo Proxy.

I can't think of any security advantage from turning off referrers.
