When to move from shared hosting to VPS/Dedi??

I am TMZHosting right now and they seem to be working fine for me..but my traffic is growing..right now i get 700 UV per day..I am currently using 2.5GB per day and my monthly BW limit is 110GB.. Or is it better to get a upgrade than get a VPS??

what is the benchmark that will make one decide that its time to move to a VPS??

    well, 2.5 * 30 = 75
you still have extra 35 GB bandwidth every month
But do track bandwidth usage everyday to check if anything goes wrong.

I think the main consideration should be the cost of the VPS versus the upgraded shared hosting fee. If the costs are similar, I think I would stick to shared hosting because there's the hassle of managing your own VPS. Performance wise, I don't see much of an edge for a VPS if your shared host is fast and reliable (think techentrance). I stayed with shared hosting until my bill was running close to the cost of a dedicated server, mainly due to bandwidth cost.

Can I ask how much your BW and traffic was when you decided to switch to a Dedi??

BW was slightly above 1TB. Visitors were probably between 7-10k estimated, I don't look at my stats very often.

BW = monthly. UV = Daily. Sorry for the confusion.

Dont worry. If your host is good they will notify you when the time is up for vps

If you can afford a VPS with a little profit, go for it. Just make sure the RAM is good.
