Category name in blog post permalink

Hey. I have a question. Does anyone know how to include the category name in blog post permalink?? Thanks!

  2. Set your custom permalink to: /%category%/%postname%.html

Avoid it Imo! If ever you need to change category permalink .... all the urls will get messed up.
Get your own hubpage @ $10 Pm me.

  5. I concur with stickycarrots and i13. I never use category name in my URL's. My standard is /%postname%.html.

Best to use just the postname IMO. Best for seo to have content stored closest to root if possible, and no issues with renaming categories etc.

And I never use the .html part of it.

    %postname% is enough imho.

I always wondered why do people add the .html suffix in Wordpress?

Probably for caching purposes. There's really no need to, though.

Google has had bugs in the past ranking certain extensionless files.

Plus, I worry about Google confusing files for subdirectory.

Also, I prefer to reserve the extensionless URL's for categories.

Or maybe I'm just old and set in my ways.
