    Disadvantages of Wordpress

WP is not suitable for large data site, my site with 500k post and million of tag, it slow down everything, including login to admin panel ....

now looking for alternative, either split db or new CMS ..... any suggestion ?

Yes i know 500k post (1gb data) is not a lot for most site (my torrent site with 6gb dbm no problem run on invision) but it so funny on my site ....

Hardware shouldn't be any issue cause the DB running on separate box ....

Really? Actually, CNN.com and TechCrunch uses WordPress. I tend to disagree a bit. It's just fine for large sites.

Consider how often those posts/pages change, though. If people will comment on them then you might need to keep it in a database. But, you might consider just doing a one-time creation of the pages so that they're actually static html pages.

That's VIP WP. Totally customized WP + core programmers + WP hosting. Not sure how much it costs, but I also prefer other options than WP on large sites.

I'm sure VIP WordPress costs a lot. But it certainly can be done.

The real question is whether or not you have to rely on a database or you can generate static pages and serve them up that way. I would rather not have to rely on a database if at all possible.

Maybe some plugins are slowing things down rather than the WP engine?

Visits to a blog do not affect the speed.
    Unless you have bad hosting?

Plugins can mess up a blog for sure.
Possible then that a plugin could also slow it down or stop it completely when people search for something or try to navigate the blog.
