I just wanted to say that I'm amazed at how quickly Google seems to index (some) WordPress blogs.
In the past, I've made several websites "manually" (i.e., all hand-coded .php and .css files, starting from scratch), and it takes days for Google to notice when I add new content to those sites. But with my latest, WordPress-based sites, new content (posts) appears in the Google index (as discovered using the site: search) within a few hours (certainly the same day)!
Perhaps it's something to do with this pinging malarkey. In any case, I'm now a bit reluctant to go back to hand-coding sites; WordPress-based sites seem to have a real advantage in this sense.
