I'm bumping this thread, but I'm wondering how many people actually use this list instead of just the pingomatic standard from WordPress?
I use the following two pinging sites apart from the Wordpress one.
pingomatic.com
pingler.com
No need to use some ping list.
Default with wp is enough.
It would be cool if somebody in the know would do a tutorial post about pinging blog posts.
I can't help feeling that it is a kind of scam where people keep peddling long lists of ping sites.
Most search engine traffic comes from Google, and once the Google Bot landed on your page, job done, no?
Look how aggressive the Google bot is (one of my recent blogs where I set up a script to monitor the bot's activity):

At one time, it was good to have your blog post pinged to a million services.
But as someone said, pingomatic is the default in wp blogs and that is really all one needs today.
A lot of ping services pick up blogs from pingomatic and each other.
Yes, once google bot comes to your blog (which should happen upon 2 minutes of going live with a new blog), that bot will come quite often.
Especially if it finds new stuff each time it visits.
Looking at stats, I see google visiting some of my blogs every few minutes.
It is just another marketing myth that one must ping each blog post to all these lists of sites.
After all, those SEO people must have that tool so they can sell their high priced, useless, services to webmasters without a clue.
Here's the code I wrote to track the bot hits on my blog.
Add this PHP code to your wp-config.php file:
Then it will create a log file of bot activity at yoursite.com/google.txt etc.PHP Code:// Bot tracking
$agent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'];
$page = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
if (strpos($agent, 'google') !== false) {
file_put_contents('google.txt', date("Y-m-d H:i:s") . "\t$agent\t$page\t$ip\n", FILE_APPEND);
}
if (strpos($agent, 'yandex') !== false) {
file_put_contents('yandex.txt', date("Y-m-d H:i:s") . "\t$agent\t$page\t$ip\n", FILE_APPEND);
}
if (strpos($agent, 'slurp') !== false) {
file_put_contents('slurp.txt', date("Y-m-d H:i:s") . "\t$agent\t$page\t$ip\n", FILE_APPEND);
}
I later added the IP address in case some bots were faking the credentials of the bot (but I didn't test this part), use at your own risk.
