    Securing Wp-Admin via .htaccess

    PHP Code:
    order deny,allow
    allow from a
    .b.c.# personal IP here
    deny from all
I was thinking of setting that up as my .htaccess file in my wp-admin area to help protect it. Is this a wise course of action or is there any potential complication?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

It seems to me that your idea should work fine -- if your IP address never changes.

Instead, what about using Apache's Basic HTTP authentication to secure that directory?

There are also a plethora of Wordpress security tools you might consider, such as Login Lockdown.

Yes, Apache's Basic HTTP authentication uses passwords, not IP addresses.
