    Trackbacks and Pingbacks

"Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page."

Since I started my blog, I've had this disabled, because I always thought that these looks pretty unsightly - comments would randomly appear that had things like [...words that someone wrote here...] with a big ugly title of 'PINGBACK' or 'TRACKBACK' or something. I also noticed that I would get some spam from having this enabled. Anyway, I figured it would be easiest to just keep them disabled and that was that.

However, I want to make sure that I'm not missing out on anything by having this disabled - so, advice would be appreciated.

Well, you can leave them enabled so you see them in the back end of your blog (if you use a CMS) and then just not approve them. I like to see who/what links to the article. Since you've had issues with scrapers, this could help there too.
