From what the video said about version 3, do not expect an update for some time. There was mention of the project leaders pausing the updates to take a look at the direction that wordpress was going - and then move forward after that.

I have not seen anything that looks terrible to me thus far. The new TwentyTen theme is considerably more complex than the previous included themes, but the admin interface looks about the same. If your old themes work, you probably will not notice a difference.

One thing that I'm finding is that the TwentyTen theme is more modular and does not rely on core WP functions for some functions. The theme contains its own function library, which makes it easier to modify the behavior of any of the functions in there. The first impressions makes it looks more confusing, but once you start to get used to it, it's pretty nice to work with.

There is a new debug mode for troubleshooting code problems. Don't use it in a live environment. You will see a stream of warning messages, including some about deprecated functions used in TwentyTen. The WordPress team should have used the new debug feature when developing their default theme.

You can now do multiple custom menus.

WordPress MU is now built in.

No bugs thus far.

It seems like they have mostly simplified the admin area, added a new default theme to demonstrate the new theme developer features and there are more advanced navigation menu options for themes. Plus they have integrated the multi-blog version (WP MU) with WordPress.

I have updated all of my blogs and everything seems to work fine(including themes and plugins).

I don't know where you are hosting your blogs, but WordPress, Joomla and other sites hosted at Network Solutions are getting hit. A hosting company can very clearly be the weakest part of security. If a hacker can get root access to a server, nothing on that server is secure.

WordPress Blogs Hacked Again

I have always considered Network Solutions to be the worst registrars out there, but it looks like their hosting is just as sub-standard. After numerous sites on their servers get hacked--most likely due to their weak security-- they are offering to clean up a site for $89. Way to go, Nutwork Solutions!

I'm now using WordPress 3.0 on my newest blog and so far I haven't seen any bugs. Except for the 'read more' that doesn't appear, but that's probably an error from the template

I tried out WP 3.0 and it seems to work fine.

Sticking with 2.x is probably not a bad idea until WP 3.x has proven itself. I plan to leave my other blogs alone until the dust settles with this version.

The development team claims that 3.0 contains 1,217 bug fixes, but I have not seen any mention of how many of them are security fixes.

One thing that I did notice is that the TwentyTen theme reveals the login ID of the post author in the link to the author page found with the post date on the category and archive pages. A lot of other themes have that problem. The function that controls that is in the functions.php script that comes with TwentyTen. It is easy to modify. I don't think it is wise to give anyone half of the information that they need to log into your admin area.
