Wordpress Automatic Upgrade Problem

Hi,

whenever i upgrade Word press from admin panel with upgrade button it put high load on my server and memory usage goes to 100%. My question is why is this Happening? Is there any special setting which I have to made before proceeding the automatic upgrade process?

Are you using the standard upgrade option, or the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plug-in. Personally I've continued to use the plug-in, since it provides some cool features.

Anyway, sometimes an extreme cpu hit occurs due to the size of the DB. Is it a large blog?

I haven't installed any update plugin I just followed the link available on /wp-admin. Its a small site.

This sounds like a server issue. Have you reported it to your hosting company?

Are you using on old version of WordPress? If so, you might want to try manually copying the newest version over the old files. It may work the next time you use it.

The Wordpress automatic update stopped working for me around version 2.8.2. It did work prior to that. After about 3 minutes of running time I get an error that says that is cannot copy a particular file.

Its probably a permission problem. As in the files are not writeable, or wordpress can not write to a temp folder.

Dont do the automatic upgrade thing anyway. Learn up to upgrade the script yourself. This knowledge will serve you well later in life if you ever use anything besides wordpress.

Can you please explain which permissions should be fixed?

you need to have a good server to do it.... cheap and slow server can hang in the process
and remember to make db backup before doing automatic update...

I have a perfect server with 4 GB of Ram so its not that case. Still waiting for some good response.
